Early summer is the perfect time to revive ourselves – and our baking – by integrating glorious garden ingredients into challah! Join Cheryl Holbert as she shares her special technique for weaving fragrant, fresh herbs into expertly crafted multi-strand braids. Cheryl will also share her tasty Rosemary White Bean Dip and other ideas for creating a delicious light meal around her Fresh Herb Woven Challah!
Open to bakers of all levels.
Please note that due to receiving Cheryl’s pre-class package there are no refunds, but students are welcome to have a baking friend participate in the live Zoom session if they cannot attend.

Bright red? Electric green? Tie dye? You've never seen challah bread like this. Come with us as we learn how to bake an challah loaf that looks like it fell off out of a rainbow!
During this one-hour presentation, acclaimed baker and founder of Nomad Bakery, Cheryl Holbert, will demonstrate how to create her Seven Strand Rainbow Challah using only natural ingredients! Recipes for Matcha Green, Turmeric Tahini Yellow, Beet Magenta Red and Butter Fly Pea Blue doughs will be provided in your registration confirmation email. Using a bit of color theory, Cheryl will share how to produce an even broader spectrum of color to create a large, multi-strand bread that’s as vibrantly beautiful as it is delicious.
The workshop will cover dividing and shaping the challah dough from the four recipes provided (plus Cheryl’s additional colors) and braiding the final piece. It's a great experience for beginning bakers and professional bakers alike.

Join our two-day online braiding odyssey with master challah baker and artist Cheryl Holbert as she shares her best techniques for creating exceptionally beautiful, delicious and professional-looking challah! We’ll cover the entire process from mixing and braiding to seed embellishments and fillings, plus Cheryl’s NEW Round Crown Challah design in time for the fall Jewish holidays. Students will receive a list of ingredients, tools and recipes, as well as a recording of the class. All levels welcome.
Cheryl Holbert is a professional baker and teacher who integrates her love of bread making with techniques and elements from her artistry and skill as a tapestry weaver. Her challah designs have received acclaim at the Fete du Pain in Paris, won the Tiptree World Bread Awards USA Showstopper and been featured in numerous online and print publications including the Boston Globe and Good Morning America. Cheryl was named one of the Top Ten Bread Bakers in North America by Dessert Professional Magazine and creates an international array of artisan breads for her local New Hampshire community. A passionate and supportive teacher, she offers bread making classes online, as well as on site at her cottage business Nomad Bakery in Derry, NH. Cheryl also travels for private teaching engagements and offers workshops for community groups, in addition to being a guest instructor for the King Arthur Baking School in Norwich, VT.
